Number Ten on Our 12-Point Agenda
Number ten on our 12-Point Agenda for the good people of Ogun State—when I am given the mandate to serve as Governor in 2027—will be an Educational Revolution.
Free, high-quality primary and secondary education is the right of every Nigerian child.
My heroes remain Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Professor Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, among others who championed the belief that education is the foundation of national progress.
Empowering Families
Education must begin with empowering families so that children are able to attend school instead of working on farms or hawking goods on the streets.
School schedules—including when school starts each day—should be thoughtfully reviewed and adjusted so that families can function better as a unit.
A Holistic School Environment
We must pay close attention to:
-
How children travel safely to school
-
The quality and nutrition of meals served
-
School facilities, including clean restrooms, showers, and safe learning spaces
-
The culture of care and respect shown by teachers and school staff
The learning environment must be nurturing, supportive, and positive, emphasizing non-punitive and constructive teaching methods that encourage growth and curiosity.
Positive reinforcement, structured play, school field trips, parental engagement, and respect for family and culture are not optional extras—they are essential elements of a strong educational system.
Teacher and Staff Welfare
Teacher welfare must also be treated with serious commitment.
Well-supported, well-trained, and well-motivated teachers will build classrooms where students feel encouraged, respected, and inspired to succeed.
Basic in-school medical and wellness services will also be available to ensure the well-being of every student.
Global Exposure and Cultural Pride
To prepare our children for a global future, educational exchange trips to French- and Spanish-speaking countries will be organized.
Students will also participate in local educational field trips to places such as:
-
Airports
-
Post offices
-
Hospitals
-
Government institutions
-
Palaces of traditional rulers
These experiences will reinforce practical learning and civic awareness.
Our schools will also teach history from our own perspective, highlighting the important contributions of the Yoruba people and Nigeria to world civilization.
Multilingual Education
A three-language immersion program will begin early in childhood, including:
-
Yoruba
-
English
-
A global language such as Mandarin
Over time, this will produce a generation of multilingual citizens prepared to engage confidently with the global community.
Nutrition and Student Welfare
School meals will be nutritious, filling, and delicious, sourced from YorùBár 360 businesses and other local food producers, creating a powerful link between education and local economic development.
Safe Transportation
School security guards recruited from local neighborhoods will help ensure children safely reach nearby schools.
For longer distances, a reliable school bus system will operate in the mornings and afternoons.
Balanced Development
Games, music, arts, and recreation must be part of every school day to support both mental and physical development.
Durable laminated educational materials will be used to reduce costs and relieve families of the constant burden of purchasing textbooks.
In-school seamstresses and second-hand uniform exchange days will ensure every child can wear properly fitting clothing without shame or financial strain on their families.
Attention to Detail
Details matter.
Details, details, details.
As a mother and a woman, I bring both lived experience and deep commitment to the future of our children.
I stand ready to serve and to help build an educational system worthy of the greatness of Ogun State.
